Terms of Service

Last updated: 2026-08-12

These terms govern your use of the Synclet Android app (name.gpm.synclet), provided by Gabriele Proietti Mattia. Installing or using the app means you accept them. If you do not, do not install it — and uninstall it if you already have.

What Synclet is

Synclet copies files between a folder on your device and a remote you configure — an FTP, SFTP, SCP, WebDAV or SMB server, a cloud storage account, or another folder on the device — in one direction or both, on a schedule you set. It runs on your device and connects only to the destinations you enter.

Licence

You get a personal, non-exclusive, non-transferable, revocable licence to use the app on devices you own or control. You may not sell, rent, sublicense or redistribute it, and you may not remove or alter attribution or notices in it.

Where the source code is published, its own licence governs the code — these terms cover the distributed app, not the repository.

No warranty

The app is provided “as is” and “as available”, without warranty of any kind, express or implied, including merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose and non-infringement. It is a personal project, not a commercial product with a support obligation.

Synchronisation is not a backup

This is the most important paragraph on this page.

A sync propagates changes, including destructive ones. If a job is configured to mirror, a file you delete on one side is deleted on the other; a file you corrupt is copied over the good copy; and a folder that appears empty because a drive did not mount looks, to any sync tool, exactly like a folder whose contents you removed.

Synclet is built to make those outcomes hard rather than easy: a job never deletes on its first run, a run that would remove an implausible share of the target stops and asks, both versions are kept when both sides changed, and every deletion is listed by name. These are safeguards, not guarantees. They reduce the chance of a mistake propagating; they cannot eliminate it.

Keep a real backup — a copy that a sync cannot reach and cannot overwrite — of anything you would mind losing. Do not use this app as your only copy of anything.

What is outside anyone’s control

Your credentials and your data

You are responsible for the credentials you enter and for having the right to access the systems you point the app at. Do not use the app to transfer data you are not entitled to transfer, and do not point it at a system you are not authorised to use.

The app stores your credentials encrypted on your device and sends them only to the servers you configured. Anyone with access to your unlocked device has access to what the app can reach.

Acceptable use

Do not use the app unlawfully, and do not use it to distribute material you have no right to distribute.

Some features may be offered as a paid unlock, through Google Play Billing in the Play version. Prices, currencies and taxes are shown by the store at the moment of purchase, and refunds follow Google Play’s own policy. Whatever is available free today stays free for installs already using it. The version distributed outside Google Play contains no purchases.

Limitation of liability

To the maximum extent permitted by law, Gabriele Proietti Mattia is not liable for any indirect, incidental, special or consequential damages, nor for loss of, or damage to, data, loss of profits, device damage, data-transfer charges, or any loss arising from a synchronisation performing as configured, failing to run, running late, or running against the wrong destination.

Nothing here excludes liability that cannot lawfully be excluded, including liability for death or personal injury caused by negligence, or for fraud. Consumers keep their mandatory statutory rights, which these terms do not limit.

Availability and changes

The app may be modified, suspended or discontinued at any time, and these terms may be updated; the current version always lives on this page, with the date below. Continuing to use the app after a change means you accept it.

Governing law

These terms are governed by Italian law. If you are a consumer, you keep the protection of the mandatory provisions of the law of your country of residence, and may bring proceedings in the courts there.
